Once upon a time, there was a "Black Stone" in Foça. The people who had stepped on this stone while roaming in the town could not have left the town.

Even they left the town, they absolutely returned to the town. Whoever heard this story used to have roamed in the town hoping to step on the "black stone" in order to stay in such a beautiful town.

Some others kindly said, "Everywhere here are black stones, it is impossible not to turn back here, seeing its beauty".

Although, such comments are considered as polite speeches of the people who visited Foça, another face of reality is hidden in such lines.

The people of Foça has identified their nice town with the sweet Mediterranean Seals that are face to face with the danger of race-consumption nowadays.

Instead, the ex-symbol of Foça was "cock" which is the symbol of resurrection and awakening as well. The statue that you may see in the entrance of the town is an evidence for this Hundreds and hundreds years ago, the Phoikaians who were the first residents of Foça put the wooden cock statues in their Parliaments, Temples, and in front of their ships.

Today it is also believed that there is a golden cock statue hidden in any part of the town. Some even keep on searching. However, the fact is what is golden is not the cock, it is Foça town itself.
